Chapter 1: The Shining Illusions Legion

In the age when the Twelve Lords trained Daevas in the Crucible and the seemingly unending Millennium War was waged, there was a legion that opposed the Balaur more courageously than any other.

They called themselves the Shining Legion, because they desired to be the light that would kindle hope in the world for liberation from the tyranny of the Balaur.

The legion was made up of five members, Onlius, Teminisian, Jouheian, Minorion and Kiminas. With the exception of the Brigade General, all of the members were younger than 20, a fact that further enhanced their renown.

Yet after the Cataclysm, this Legion that had kindled new hope in people was never heard from again.

It's name was passed down through the ages. As nobody knew what had become of it, people took to speaking of the Legion as an "Illusion", so that it is now known as the Shining Illusion Legion.

Chapter 2: Onlius, the Blazing Protector

Onlius was the Brigade General and oldest member of the Shining Illusion Legion. He came from a small village, where he had grown up as the only son of a fisherman.

His studies took him to a major city, where he learned how terribly the people suffered under the yoke of the Balaur. It was then that he decided to join the Crucible, where he ascended to become a Daeva.

His gentle and quiet nature often earned him scorn from his comrades, but in battle he was more cold-blooded and terrifying than any other.

He was very strong and skilled, and wielded all weapons with confidence. Under his leadership, the Shining Illusion Legion performed many heroic deeds to protect Atreia.

Chapter 3: Teminisian, the Stunning Assassin

The youngest member of the Shining Illusion Legion, Teminisian was renowned among friends and enemies alike for his outstanding beauty.

Even as a small child, his greatest wish was to destroy the Balaur. He joined the Crucible when he was 13, where he trained together with the adults. In less than three years, he ascended to become a Daeva.

Teminisian's almost divine appearance was complemented by his elegance on the battlefield. Nobody could avert their face from his beauty.

However, he had a tendency to lose or break items entrusted to him for safekeeping. It is said that, because of this, the other members of the legion worried about him constantly.

Chapter 4: Jouheian, the Mighty Bard

Jouheian was known for his ability to cow the enemies of the Shining Illusion Legion with his mere presence. He also enhanced the fighting spirit of his allies.

Once, he had dreamed of leading a quiet and simple life. However, that was not to be, and so he joined the Crucible to protect his family from the frequent Balaur invasions. When he was 19, he ascended to become a Daeva.

Belying his looks, Jouheian was a very sensitive person. To this day, stories are told of the tears he shed for his family on the day he ascended to become a Daeva.

He wanted to use his special gift for music and song to entertain his comrades at arms when they were far from home. They grew accustomed to this, however, and so became unable to enjoy his presentations as enthusiastically as they once did.

Chapter 5: Minorion, the Graceful Blade

Minorion was famed for his graceful appearance. Lightning reflexes and his impressive size allowed him to overcome enemies of the Shining Illusion Legion.

His father served an order of knights entrusted with protecting his homelands. At the leader's recommendation, he joined the Crucible where he ascended to become a Daeva at 17.

Minorion's grace and warmth garnered him more than admiring looks. Particularly popular among the ladies, he was often nicknamed Atreia's Passion.

He was also a strong proponent of order and hierarchies, likely an echo of his father's influence during his formative years.

Chapter 6: Kiminas, the Jesting Sorcerer

Kiminas the Sorcerer was reputedly the cleverest member of the Shining Illusion Legion. His special enunciation of spells on the battlefield garnered him further renown.

The son of a lord from a small town, he had always despised those who fled from Balaur attacks. He joined the Crucible to protect the town citizens, and ascended to become a Daeva at 17.

As with most of the nobility, Kiminas dressed and groomed with painstaking care. His clothing was always immaculate, and he paid special attention to matters of diet.

His propensity for jokes often got him into trouble with Minorion, who was of a far more subdued nature. However, they were close allies on the battlefield and always watched each others' backs.

Chapter 7: The Shining Illusions Legion?

The Shining Illusions Legion emerged in the final years of the Millennium War. They have not been heard from since the Cataclysm.

If the memories of Daevas who experienced the Cataclysm are anything to go on, this elite legion suffered the same fate as many nameless heroes.

Theories about their disappearance abound. Some view the Cataclysm as the punishment for their deeds. Others believe that they went into the Aether Flow to prevent the Cataclysm. Yet others argue that they never existed. The truth remains elusive.

However, a romanticised and idealised image of this legion that fought in the Millennium War and at the time of the Cataclysm can inspire hope in those wounded in the Cataclysm.
